Rule 9 - Presentation of the content
Sometimes it is important to emphasize certain parts in a text. Therefore we use the device of bold letters or italic letters. Instead, do not underline your text, because this could cause confusion because the visitor could think that it is a link. Remember not to use this device too often, because then it could appear superficial.
Generally one cold say: you can increase the quality of your text by highlighting certain things, by using graphics and tables or different colours. But never ever change the font you’re using. Imagine a newspaper article which is printed in two sizes and different fonts. This would cause total confusion and rejection of your page.
Start new paragraphs and leave enough space between the single objects.
The Internet is primary visual medium that means, screens of text can be annoying. Separate long texts in many little pages.
Some more guidelines are:
- use short text segments with a good heading
- link only pages with content that is connected with you content
- within text use as little links as possible
If you’ve come so far, there only little more to go until you’ve finished you page. Let’s go to the last rule:
